The AutoCAD VIC driver creates print-ready, read-only files directly out of AutoCAD. When installed, the VIC driver appears in the AutoCAD plot dialog box with all your other .pc3 files (like the HP650 or HP755CM). When plotting a .dwg to file, the VIC24.pc3 plots to file and creates a VIC (Vector Image Compressed) file, which then can be transmitted to Advance Reprographics for plotting. The AutoCAD VIC driver is made specially for our plotters. It captures pen weights, screens, hatches, Xrefs, fonts (and reads .ctb and .pcp files, when applicable) and does it more accurately than traditional HGPL/2 plot drivers can.
Our printers are driven by Autodesk software called Apprentice. The VIC is its native file format. When Apprentice receives .plt files, it converts them to .vic files and sends them to our production plotters. Creating .vic files directly from AutoCAD eliminates the middle step of processing HGPL/2 plot files and is a much more reliable way to make print-ready files for our machines.
To install the driver, download the AutoCAD VIC driver and follow the installation procedures.
